big big changes.

January 15, 2012

how this happened

There came a point when I realized I was only doing extremely demanding work. The entire atmospheric landscape series (2009-2011) was, in retrospect, an attempt to gather some solid ground for myself in the wake of personal tragedies. The lush florals that bridged the landscapes and this new work were also rooted in that period of recovery.

I longed to once again devote most of my working time to a process that is free, exploratory, and driven by curiosity rather than intensity.

  1. I admire your ability to listen to yourself within your work. I am back into that process myself, everything was getting stuck and the process unpleasant, to say the least. I am taking a sabbatical to tend to medical needs that are no doubt related and to listen to the mandala drawings that I am doing.
    Thank you for sharing.
